"
Urban Fantasy "
~ by Mary Lou Have
you ever read a story?
- a typical urban fantasy
beginning on the dark side of the moon?
In ice cold dreams, she wanders
through the emerald forest
longing for a smooth ride
from the stalker who doesn't exist
in any other realm but
her shattered misconceptions.
She screams, there on the eternal mountain:
" Why can't someone love me enough
to become obsessively infatuated with me? "
A vision in the sky,
the boys she's known,
and she ruminates
over the one that got away.
A possible poem emerges
but is soon lost in space
as shattered truths
fall upon her
like torrential rain.
She whispers, there in the farmhouse
" The secret lives of masochists,
too full of addictions and sensations,
require blood sacrifices.
And here am I, without my tourniquet. "
When the boughs break,
weighed down by the ice in her veins,
she heads to the tavern of forgetfulness,
drowns herself in Russian vodka
'til everyone's a stalker.
She moans there,
underneath his thrusting hips,
a drama queen has offed herself.
